The Fendrod Lake
A 13 acre lake in the heart of the Swansea Enterprise Park, 5 mins from Junct 45 of the M4.The water has been known to produce carp to 30lbs, skimmers to bream of 12lb+, tench to 7lbs, roach to 2lbs together with crucian carp, dace, ide, perch & rudd. There is an annual restocking of fish on this water. The lake has approx 75 pegs, the vast majority of which are concreted. A small number are also designed for the disabled
Fendrod Lake
The larger of our waters is the Fendrod Lake and has approx 75 pegs some of which are designed for the disabled and are linked to the main tarmac path that surrounds the lake.
The Fendrod Lake occupies an area of some 13 Acres in the heart of the Swansea Enterprise Park. It was originally designed as part of the Flood Defence Scheme, but has since become a recreational facility, catering for walkers and cyclists alike. The Club also allow Swansea Model Yacht Club to sail their yachts on the lake - a popular event on a Sunday & Thursday afternoon.
It's largely down to the efforts of the Angling Club and the help they've received from the Local Authority , that the lake looks like it does now. This partnership now promotes coarse fishing in the area.

The lake has it's own volunteer bailiff team who make regular patrols of the water. Expect to see either Chris and his wife Sarah, Tim and Gemma, or Jason(who's wife doesnt bailiff). You might even get visited by Dave The Club Sec or Elliott the Club Chairman who like to mascarade as bailiffs occasionally(though funnily enough, their wifes dont bailiff either!!). Two new bailiffs have also joined the team in Paul Holmes and Jason Cooper.
PLEASURE/MATCH FISHING
Pegs 1 to 11 (the 'Honda Bank') are quite shallow (18" -4ft) and respond best to a waggler or pole approach. Use groundbait sparingly, with just loose feed 'little & often' often a better approach. There's some established lily patches within easy reach of an 11m pole. The lake deepens to approx 5-6ft at 11m from peg12 onwards.
Pegs 12 to 23 are known as the open bank where feeder, waggler and pole all work on their day.
Pegs 24 to 35 are known as 'the Trees' section. Depth is approx 5-6ft at 11m, the average depth close in being 4ft. There's also a trench at approx 6m that can be located by correctly plumbing up.
Pegs 37 to 49 form the 'Windmill Bank'. By looking at the angle of the bank, you'll guess that they shelve off quite close to the bank , with depths of 6ft at approx 6mts. Feeder, pole and waggler score here.
Please note that pegs 34 to 37 have now been decommisioned/withdrawn due to both the formation of a fishing exclusion zone to promote fish welfare and due to health & safety concerns.
Deep water (6-7ft at 7mts)is a feature of pegs 50 to 63 making them ideal for autumn and winter fishing for roach and bream on the waggler or feeder.
Pegs 64 to 75 form the 'Hotel Bank'. Depths start at 5ft at 5mts but shallow up to 3-4ft when you get to peg75. Waggler and pole are the best methods here.
The Fendrod isnt a heavily stocked water and can be a bit of a challenge. Although occasional small carp can be caught on waggler or pole, most are of mid-specimen size and are likely to snap you off. Using carp/commercial-style baits like pellet are unlikely to ensure you a productive session. Instead use traditional baits like maggot, caster and worm, pursuing roach, perch, dace and bream/skimmers . Balling in groundbait is rarely successful, so be economical with what you throw in.
CARP FISHING
Our carp run to around 30lb with recent stockings of 'Mark Simmonds' carp growing on. These were stocked at between 14 and 18lb starting in Autumn 2001, so are piling on the weight naturally without being stocked at grossly artificially high weights to start with.
You'll find Mirrors, commons, ghosties and the odd Koi to put a bend in your rod and plenty of features to cast to including banks of rushes, lily beds, tyre reefs(marked by red markers), gravel bars, over-hanging trees and an old stream bed.
Night fishing is allowed for season ticket holders only and a maximum of 3 rods can be used -but see club rules. Please move your bivvies after 48hrs to avoid marking the grass. We'd also be grateful if you'd not put your litter in the rubbish bins but take it home with you instead. Bins can overflow and get predated by foxes and magpies. It leaves a mess around the bins and the anglers then get the blame from the public - and quite right they are too for a change!
You're allowed one guest per bivvie and all anglers are responsible for the behaviour of those that stay with them. Everyone likes to have a laugh and a joke with fellow anglers, but please respect the privacy of the anglers on neighbouring pegs. They too have the right to an enjoyable angling session without disturbance from fellow anglers.
BOATING ACTIVITIES-SUNDAY PM/THURS PM FISHING
Please note that Swansea Model Yacht club hold their meetings on these days -please avoid fishing on pegs 1-4 from 12.00pm to 4pm on both these days
